American P-47 fighter aircraft captured by the Nazis and found by the allies at a German airfield

The P-47D-2 fighter aircraft (serial number 42-8370) from the 355th Fighter Group of the 8th Air Force of the US Air Force was lost in the Cana area on November 8, 1943.
This is the first P-47 captured by the Nazis. The fighter entered the German test squad, known as the “Wanderzirkus Rosarius”, named after the commander Theodore Rosarius. Allied captured aircraft were tested in this unit.
