The American “Minneapolis” cruiser (CA-36) class “New Orleans” of the US Navy, is firing from 127-mm guns during the invasion of the US Army on the island of Butaratari, part of the Makin Atoll.
This is the second operation in which “Minneapolis” cruiser participated after repairing the damage received on November 30, 1942 in a night battle near Tassafaronga.
