American aircraft carrier Bunker Hill burns after kamikaze attacks

Burning aircraft carrier Bunker Hill (CV-17) class “Essex” after hitting two kamikazes on May 11, 1945 near Okinawa island. The destroyer Charles S. Sperry (DD-697), which helps the crew of the aircraft carrier to fight the fire, is moored on the left side. Near the bow of the 127-mm cannon, the smoke pipes of the light cruiser USS Wilkes-Barre (CL-103) are seen taking the wounded and also fighting fire at Bunker Hill.
