The commander of the 1st company of the 314th Infantry Regiment of the 79th Infantry Division of the US Army Captain W.H. Hooper (he will be killed in early July 1944 in the battles for (La Haye-du-Puits) with his comrades escorting the captured German soldiers of the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS along the street of the French city of Cherbourg.
