The commander of the 1st company of the 314th Infantry Regiment of the 79th Infantry Division of the US Army Captain W.H. Hooper (he will be killed in early July 1944 in the battles for (La Haye-du-Puits) with his comrades escorting captured German soldiers along the street of the French city of Cherbourg.
