123rd Infantry Division participated in the Soviet-Finnish war (Winter, 1939-1940), operating on the Karelian Isthmus as part of the 7th Army. Particularly distinguished division on February 11, 1940 at the breakthrough of the Mannerheim Line, for which she was awarded the Order of Lenin. 26 soldiers and division commanders received the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
